Barbara M. Siemens is an active contributor to the musical community. Since 1986, she has worked with piano students of all levels and ages, gaining considerable experience and insight in the process. Her training includes a Master of Arts in Historical Musicology, and a Bachelor of Music from the University of British Columbia, as well as an A.R.C.T. Performer’s Diploma and an A.R.C.T. Teachers’ Diploma from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Canada.
As a senior examiner, Barbara worked with the Royal Conservatory of Music College of Examiners for twenty-five years and she traveled across Canada and in the U.S. on their behalf. She has presented on various topics at regional conventions and festivals, in addition to Music Teacher Association of California (MTAC) and RCM events.
Barbara is currently serving as President of the British Columbia Registered Music Teachers’ Association (BCRMTA) and 1st Vice President of the Canadian Federation of Music Teachers’ Association (CFMTA). She is also Past President of the Vancouver/Burnaby Branch of the BCRMTA.
